NATIONAL DISTILLERY DAY
Friday 2 August 2024
We’re not just another gin brand – we actually make our gin, at our distillery in Tring. As members of the Actually Made In campaign which champions distilleries proud of their provenance and transparency we’re excited to announce there is now an official National Distillery Day! On Friday 2 August distilleries around the UK will be opening their doors and inviting you to visit.
Visit Puddingstone Distillery, Tring, Hertfordshire
From day one when we first launched Puddingstone Distillery in 2016 we’ve been open to the public. We host regular Thursday evening distillery tours and the shop is open every Friday and Saturday. You may also be lucky and find us open other days as well depending on whether we are distillery based for the day or out running off-site events, doing deliveries or seeing customers.
As mentioned on Fridays and Saturdays you can visit our Hertfordshire distillery in Tring. Come on in, take a seat at the bar and enjoy a free gin tasting! There’s no need to book, we’re open 9.30am to 5pm so come along anytime for an enlightening gin experience. We have a minimum of four gins available to try at all times and depending on the time of year possibly another two or three special or limited edition gins! Each taster serve is 5ml of gin with or without a splash of refreshingly cold tonic.
Ours isn’t just a distillery shop but it’s a shop in the distillery. The tasting bar sits in front of our three gin stills – Amelia, Isabella and Annie. You’ll learn about the four-strong multi-award winning Campfire Gin range, the botanicals we use and a brief overview of the distilling process. You’ll see where we bottle and label each and every bottle we produce at The Gin Guide’s 2021 Distillery of the Year.

How to get to Puddingstone Distillery
Located in the Chilterns National Landscape
Puddingstone Distillery is based on the P E Mead & Sons Farm Shop site in Wilstone, Tring. When you plan a visit to our distillery allow extra time to stop by the farm shop or grab a lunch or afternoon tea at the Farmhouse Kitchen. Why not make a day of it and include a walk round Wilstone Reservoir, a site of special scientific interest that has become one of the best birdwatching spots in southern England, or take a stroll along the Grand Union Canal.
Use what3words ///sketch.listening.bashed for directions to the distillery.
Arrive by bus
There’s plenty of on-site parking but to make the most of your gin tasting experience we recommend arriving by foot, taxi or a kind designated driver. There’s also the HertsLynx bus service, an on-demand bus service operating in Dacorum. It’s £2 per person per journey and you can book up to five people via the app. There’s one space on the bus for a wheelchair. It operates 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm weekends and bank holidays. To learn more and book your journeys visit the website here.
A day trip to a distillery by train from London, Milton Keynes or Aylesbury
At just 40 miles from the centre of London a visit to Puddingstone Distillery makes a great day out in the beautiful Chilterns National Landscape countryside. Tring station is on the London Northwestern Railway line so jump on the train at Euston (40 mins journey), Harrow & Wealdstone or Watford. From the opposite direction we have great links to Milton Keynes, Leighton Buzzard, Bletchley and Birmingham. Having departed London Euston the next station stop after Tring is Cheddington. The distillery is equal distance between Tring and Cheddington but we suggest disembarking at Cheddington, it’s a short walk to The Green in Cheddington where you can hop on the 62 bus to Wilstone. Alternatively pre-book a taxi from either station. More info can be found here.
