Campfire London Dry Gin Puddingstone Purl cocktail recipe

PUDDINGSTONE PURL

History
Who says a gin cocktail needs to be cold. This potent combination is referenced in the writing of Dickins, Shakespeare and Pepys. The hot Purl gin cocktail was believed to be the favoured morning tipple of Thames boatmen but would be equally warming under an Autumnal moonlit sky.

Ingredients
100ml Campfire London Dry Gin
300ml Hoppy golden ale
150ml Pressed apple juice
2cm cube Fresh ginger
½ stick Cinnamon
2 Brown sugar cubes
2 tsp Honey

Preparation
Add the ale, apple juice, ginger and cinnamon stick to a pan and heat slowly, bringing it to a gentle simmer. After 10 minutes add the sugar. Continue to simmer gently for a further 10 minutes during which time you can toast some marshmallows over the fire.

Remove the pan from the heat, stir in the honey until dissolved, add the Campfire Gin and divide into two tumblers. Garnish with toasted marshmallows.
