Herts & Middlesex Festival of Wildlife 2017

This is going to be a very exciting event, not just because it is the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust Festival of Wildlife 2017, but also because it will be the location for the launch of our Campfire Gin Special Edition No 1, produced in-conjunction with the Trust… but more on that later!

The Festival of Wildlife is run in association with the Herts Natural History Society and takes place in Tarmac’s Panshanger Park, near Hertford.

Did you know that Hertfordshire is home to 26 species of dragonfly? Well, I didn’t, but there’s an opportunity to learn more about them and maybe spot a few on a special walk with dragonfly expert Roy Woodward. And why would you not go on a walk called ‘Tree-mendous’? Just the name is enough to make me want to learn more about the trees in Panshanger Park. If you don’t want to walk then you could always listen to a talk. Here’s the titles for just two of the seven different talks. ‘Britain’s got talon’ and ‘Have I got poos for you’. I’ll leave you to decide what they could be about!

So back to the gin, well we’ve been working with the Trust on a Special Edition using Himalayan balsam as one of the botanicals. The plant is an invasive species and is cleared by the Trust to protect the health of Hertfordshire’s rivers. To highlight the work of the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust we have created this colourful gin with £2 from every bottle sold going directly to the Trust. Come and visit our stand at the Festival to purchase your bottle and help support the invaluable work of the Trust.

The festival is open 10am to 4pm on both days.
