You might be wondering what does dry mean in a martini? You’d be forgiven for thinking the ‘dry’ refers to the dry in London Dry Gin but it doesn’t. It refers to the fact that this particular martini is made using dry vermouth, a style of vermouth which is typically from France. Rather than, say, a Gin and It cocktail, which is gin and sweet vermouth. Sweet vermouths are generally from Italy, hence the abbreviation to ‘It’.
The ‘bone’ in our Campfire Bone Dry Martini refers to the ratio of gin to dry vermouth. At home and in the distillery we class anything above a 6:1 ratio as a bone dry martini. Our award winning best martini in the world recipe is a delicious 10:1 ratio!
