Multi-award winning Puddingstone Distillery is a dedicated gin distillery and the home of Campfire Gin. Our distillery is in a beautiful location just outside Tring on a farm shop site next to Wilstone Reservoir. We have an exciting opportunity for a Saturday shop assistant to join our small team and present our distillery and gin brands to the highest standards. The role may sometimes include evenings, Fridays and Sundays.  

You’ll be greeting customers on arrival into the distillery, serving gin samples and talking through our product range and production processes (we will train you). We want you to build rapport with customers through conversations and your honest recommendations so you’ll be confident, engaging and excellent at communicating. You will present our award winning gins with pride.

Main purposes of job

To be a first point of contact for customers, processing transactions and looking for upselling opportunities.

Key tasks

  • Talking to customers and serving gin samples
  • Processing payments
  • Keeping the shop tidy, filling the shelves and ensuring everything is “just so”
  • Light cleaning duties during the day plus vacuuming and mopping of floor at closing time
  • Washing up sample glasses and cleaning down counters
  • Stringing bottle swing tags
  • Take A-boards out and bring in at the end of the day
  • Open and close up the shop
  • Help serve cocktails during any events run on Saturdays during shop open hours
  • Provide occasional cover assisting at off site events – setting up/taking down gazebo/stand, serving customers and processing payments
  • Feedback information gathered from customers to directors

  • To ensure the distillery shop is kept clean and tidy and presentable to the public

  • Good knowledge of the local area – restaurants, things to do, local walks etc
  • Must be over 18 to serve and sell alcohol
  • Driving licence with own transport or able to get to and from the distillery without being reliant on public transport
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to lift heavy items
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Non smoker


  • 3 months probation
  • £9/hr first 3 months, £10/hr after
  • Pension scheme
  • 9:15am to 5:15pm (includes 1 hour lunch break)
