Box Moor Gin

£40.00£216.00

TOP 10 GIN 2023 as compiled by gin judge, consultant, blogger and gin writer Gin A Ding Ding (Sarah Miller)!

Distilled using local Hertfordshire juniper harvested by distillery founders Ben and Kate Marston.

The rare juniper used in this special edition gin is grown on The Box Moor Trust estate in Hemel Hempstead just 13 miles from our distillery in Tring. It’s distilled to a classic London Dry style with British coriander seed, British angelica root, orris root powder and fresh limes. The addition of limes is a nod to Boxmoor Wharf – once the home of Rose’s Lime Juice.

As with grape varieties, the terroir of a region has huge impact on the juniper, in this instance offering a profile that exhibits pine but with enhanced juicy plum and herbaceous notes.

The bottle label is inspired by Belted Galloway cows. Same great gin but which colour label will you choose? Burnt orange or dark brown?

£2 from every bottle sold goes to The Box Moor Trust. 40% ABV

Description

The bottle

Belted Galloway cows are a familiar sight on The Box Moor Trust estate. Casually referred to as stripey cows or Oreo cows, this distinct variety has provided inspiration for this release of Box Moor Gin. We also reference the gravestone of highwayman James ‘Robert’ Snooks who in 1801 robbed a postboy travelling from Tring to Hemel Hempstead and was the last person in the UK to be executed for the crime!

Five botanicals

British juniper from The Box Moor Estate, Hemel Hempstead
British angelica root
Fresh lime peel
British coriander seed
Orris root powder

Recommended serves

Try a simple serve of 50ml Box Moor Gin and 100ml Indian tonic and a slice of lime. For something more decadent indulge in an Oreo Cookies & Cream gin cocktail. A fruity Orange Sour or lime Gimlet are great classic citrus forward gin cocktails we recommend serving with Box Moor Gin.

All our gin cocktails can be found here.

Packaging

Our bottle is made from 40% recycled glass and does not have a big plug of glass in the base. Less glass equates to a reduced carbon footprint during production, transit and recycling, which we all know is a very good thing.

Our stopper is recycled cork with wood also from a FSC certified supplier.

Postage packaging is cardboard and paper. Packing chips are made from corn starch and are soluble in water.
